Ca’ d’Oro Salon at Gulf Wars XXVII

The Ca’ d’Oro Salon is a department at Gulf Wars, a reenactment event held annually near Lumberton, Mississippi. Ca’ d’Oro is a place where we gather, socialize, and learn about post 13th-century arts & sciences in the atmosphere of a 15th-century Italian Salon where artists, poets, musicians, philosophers, nobility, and courtiers would have gathered to pass the time.

Sunday 3/11

• 11AM – 12PM — Period Wine Discussion (learn about a period wine. bring ID), Maestra Giata
• 12PM – 2PM — Gaming Hours (Gluckhaus and more), Maestra Giata Magdalena Alberti
• 2PM – 3PM — What is Enchanted Ground? (learn how to be in persona), THL Madame Cynthia du Pont
• 4PM-6PM — Enchanted Ground/Bardic Circle (come to perform or just listen while in persona), THL Madame du Pont

Monday 3/12

• 10AM – Until — Period Cooking Demonstration (demo of period cooking techniques), Ca’ Giglio d’Oro/ House of the Golden Lilie (Ca’ d’Oro Household)
• 11AM – 12PM — Dressing the Italian Way, (Demo of layers and components), Giata Magdalena Alberti
• 1PM – 2:30PM — Coazzone – Headwear Styling (discussion & instructions on different methods to pattern and make your own), Vandy Pacetti-Donelson
• 6:30PM – 8:30PM — Ca’ d’Oro Ball & Social (come to this pre-ball ball, learn steps, dance, and socialize), Gwlados

Tuesday 3/13

• 10AM – 12PM — Opening Ceremonies, meet at the Salon at 10:00 to walk over to procession starting at 11AM, Luciano Di Giovanni
• 12PM – 2PM — Period Potluck (bring a period ish to share, bring period feast gear to sample)
• 2PM – 4PM — Chivalry Class Pt 1 of 3 (three-part class on chivalry), THL Madame du Pont

• 10AM – 12PM — Wonder Women: Period Heroines (round table discussion), Evanne Floyd
• 11AM – 12PM — PUSTALES, PESTILENCE AND PAIN: Tudor Treatments and Aliments of Henry VIII (discussion of this book led by the author!), Seamus O’Caellaigh
• 1PM – 2PM — Period Painted Boxes (discussion and demo of a finished piece, bring yours to discuss), Betty Eyer
• 2PM – 4PM — Chivalry Class Pt 3 of 3 (three-part class on chivalry), THL Madame du Pont
